National currency is Kyrgyz Som (KGS) equals to 100 tyin. Notes are in denominations of 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1, and 50, 10 and 1 tyin.
Foreign currencies can be easily changed at commercial banks and street exchange offices in Kyrgyzstan. The US Dollar and Euros are the most common currencies.
Credit/Debit Cards and ATMs
Credit cards are accepted in some of the larger hotels in Bishkek and used at banks to take out cash from the counter.
There is limited acceptance of travel cheques, but some banks in Bishkek accept them, with US Dollars as probably the best option; commission charges are high. Cash is recommended in Kyrgyzstan.
